Library Resource Center

Mrs. Johnson, our library resource specialist, has a passion for reading and loves sharing that with our students. Her goal is to encourage each student to develop and grow an interest in reading, partly because it is an important factor in student success. Several studies have shown a direct correlation between reading and an improvement in all areas of academics; it can also increase cognitive function and slow the progression of Alzheimer's and dementia. Stories open the imagination and allow students to travel to exotic places and have exciting adventures without ever leaving the house. That makes the library one of the most important spaces on campus!

During library time, your student will learn and practice grade-level appropriate information and skills, including:

  • Parts of a book

  • Genres of literature

  • Literary awards

  • Author studies

  • How to locate fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials using the computer catalog and Dewey Decimal System

  • Research techniques and how to properly quote and cite materials

  • And more!
